 Aviation Law Consultant

Kofi Henaku heads the corporate and commercial law as well as the employment law departments of this practice.  Kofi also serves currently as the Practice Manager of the firm. 

As head of the employment law department, Kofi has also used his immense interest and expertise in lecturing the Law of Tort, European Law and Contract to obtain succesful outcomes for our clients in matters of dismissal, discrimination and breach of contract. He has succesfully represented clients before the employment tribunals against major institutions in London. He also advises employers, including some mid-sized airlines. Kofi is also a prominent member of the PPI team. His main interest in housing law is in homelessnes of the vulnerable clients.

 Kofi's practice is concentrated in aviation and space law and related issues. He has extensive experience in structuring, drafting and negotiating a wide range of transactions and treaties in the transport and satellite navigation industries, including cross-border competition regimes in air transport, aircraft finance agreements, project finance contracts.

He has contributed in major international regulatory and advisory studies for the EU, COMESA, ECOWAS, the World Bank, Eurocontrol, ACAC and ASECNA. He has extensive experience in counselling clients regarding national and international regulation of air transport and air navigation.

Kofi has contributed to thinking in the field of satellite navigation regulation and in particular in issues relating to responsibility and liability of operators. He has also contributed immensely to the liberalisation of air travel in Africa. He was an active participant in the process leading to the adoption of the Yammoussoukro Decision of 1999 and subsequently assisted COMESA and SADC States adopt a multi-lateral competition regime for Eastern and Southern Africa.

His passion for the air transport industry, Africa, and efficient and affordable marketing by smaller airlines and hotels of their services resulted in Kofi leading a 5 year project to develop a next generation networked reservation system the African travel industry. The Afilink system is currently undergoing testing.

Kofi has at various times in his carrier lectured International Law at the University of Leiden (The Netherlands); Space Law at the University of Ghana (Ghana),  Aviation Product Liability Law at the Delft Technical University (The Netherlands); Law of Tort, Contract and European Law under the University of London External LLB Programme.
